About
Lorin Stelly
My approach to therapy is highly collaborative. An overarching goal is empowerment, because I know change can occur when we feel empowered to do so. I utilize approaches of talk therapy (i.e. Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Logotherapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Family Systems, Emotion Focused Therapy, Gottman Method, and Positive Psychology) to help clients problem solve, recognize strengths, and achieve goals in work, relationships, and overall life.
In my years of practice, I have learned that sometimes talk therapy alone is not enough to help the healing process. Often times, supporting clients on ways to connect to their body can bring about the lasting change they're seeking. I have additional education on implementing techniques such as, yoga (Trauma-Sensitive Yoga-see blog for more info), Trauma Recovery Yoga, mindfulness, and creative activities to help in your overall mental wellness.
When I'm not in the therapy office, I try to practice what I preach. I enjoy the company of my family, friends and two pugs. I especially love a good cup of coffee, sewing, and yoga. My professional experiences are outlined underneath my pug, Albert, who likes to ponder life.

Experience
I have worked in various mental health settings over the past decade: adult inpatient mental health, outpatient psychotherapy, psychiatric rehabilitation, community crisis management/ intervention. Within those settings, I provided therapy to adolescents and adults of all ages (i.e. pre-teen/teens, college age adults, couples in various stages, and many adults with anxiety, depression and high stress). I've completed educational training to work successfully with couples. And additional education on helping people cope with trauma. I am particularly passionate about helping those who might be experiencing vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, or burnout.
